Mission

The mission of the Full-service Schools Roundtable is to advance the healthy development and academic success of students in Boston – and Massachusetts – through integrated school-community partnerships. The Roundtable believes the following:

  • Full-service schools focus on supporting the whole child throughout his or her education. Full-service schools are places that meet all students’ mental health and physical health needs while also providing quality out-of-school time programs, family support, and connections to other community institutions. A full-service school building is filled with children and adults engaged in positive activities, before school, long after the school day is over, on weekends and during the summer.
  • To be ready to learn, children must have their emotional, physical, psychological, and family needs met.
  • Together with schools, the community shares responsibility for the academic and non-academic success of students.
  • Schools alone cannot provide students with all of the supports they need.  In order to meet the full range of students’ needs, schools should establish integrated partnerships with community institutions and a range of service providers.
  • Comprehensive student supports are comprised of health, mental health, social services, academic, family engagement and support, and out-of-school time programming. Schools can be an effective delivery vehicle for these services.
